Laban Rata Rest House - After about 6 hours of leisurely climb, I reached the main hut at 3,272 m (10,735 ft) and checked in at the office ahead of my fellow climbers and the guide. Since the hut we were booked for was Panar Laban Hut at 3,314m, I had to make another short climb.

Laban Rata Rest House viewed from Panar Laban Hut:

Panar Laban Hut was not only unheated but some of its windows were broken, meaning it was refrigerated!  Also, the shower and the toilet were outside - about 20 m away, and the water heater was broken.  So, I climbed down to the Rest House and complained.  They initially offered to give us sleeping bags, but they finally got us a room at another hut.  (I think it was Gunting Lagadan Hut.)  At least this hut had indoor facilities.  Our room was barely large enough to fit two bunk beds.
