Kusatsu Onsen - Yu-bataké

Approximately 5,000 liters per minute of hot spring water rushes down the giant spout into a large reservoir.  This is a way to cool down the water so that it can be used for bathing without diluting it with cold water.  Cooled water is distributed to various ryokans (inns) in the resort.
