Atomic Bomb Dome   At 8:15 a.m. August 6, 1945, the bomb exploded approximately 600 meters above and 160 meters to the southeast of this building, then known as Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall.  Because the blast came from almost directly above, some of the walls of the building remained standing. It has been maintained as a reminder to the horrific event.
