Yosegi-zaiku - a craftsman demonstrates how a what appears to be inlaid woodwork is made. He actually creates thin strips of different-colored wood, glues them together to make a thicker stick, and the glues many of these thicker sticks together to form a block of wood with a beautiful geometric patter on the surface. This block can be shaven very thinly to crate hundreds of  laminate with identical design or the block can be carved into some object.

Here are examples of yosegi-zaiku.
