Charles Bridge

Charles Bridge over the Vlatava (or Moldau) River connects the Old Town to the Lesser Quarter (below the Prague Castle). The view from the foot of the bridge on the Old Town side is spectacular, and thus the bridge is a major tourist attraction.   Charles IV appointed Peter Parler, the architect of the St. Vitus' Cathedral, to construct this bridge in 1357.

Around the Prague Castle

Lesser Quarter (Malá Strana) is a charming town just below the Prague Castle.  Some of the streets are steep, as the Castle is nearly 400 m above the river level.  The Hradčany Square in front of the castle has a number of impressive palaces, and it was filmed as Vienna in the film Amadeus.
