| Q I am about to repot my Brassisa orchid. I would appreciate your advice on what
medium I should use. A Modern Brassia hybrids are remarkably forgiving and very free blooming. When I first began growing orchids, a good Brassia was one that bloomed. Today, we can expect hybrids that bloom on each growth, with glorious displays. These plants also seem not to be too particular about what medium is used. I have seen them grown in fine media such as those used for paphiopedilums or oncidium types, as well as in coarser media such as those used bor cattleyas and phalaenopsis. A good general mix might be equal parts medium and fine fir bark, with about 20 percent coarse sponge-rock. Pot when the growths are about half developed as roots emerge. NedNash. |
