Image Editing Software

I recently (April 2007)  upgraded to Adobe® Photoshop® CS3 which is a part of Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium.  One of the great features included with Adobe Photoshop CS3 is the ability to "develop" (i.e. process) images saved as RAW files which have NOT been processed by the camera.  The application is smart enough to be able to read and process a number of manufacture-specific RAW file formats, including the format used by my Olympus E-300.  This feature makes it unnecessary for me to import Olympus RAW files with the plug-in software supplied by Olympus.  Furthermore, it allows me to save the RAW files in a common format called DNG (Digital Negative).  Here is a discussion on DNG.

Here is a close-up of some of the controls available to "develop" RAW files:

Another nice feature is Adobe Bridge CS3 which is included in the suite.  Adobe Bridge allows me to organize, locate, and view not only photos in various formats but also other assets such as video and audio files.  It, also, acts as a "bridge" between Adobe applications.  Here is how you can brows and preview:

I not only use Photoshop to edit photos but also for other creative purposes: See the orchid murals that I created with this software.  Also, I use Adobe Photoshop to cut out orchid blooms to create some of the screen savers that are posted on this site.

In addition, I use Easy GIF Animator (Version 3.5), in conjunction with Adobe Photoshop, to create greeting cards.  It is very easy and fun to use.  If you are interested a trial version is available.  Here are examples:

Also, I use Easy Icon Maker to make a small icon that is displayed in the URL box on a browser when you visit my website:
