Laelia harpophylla Contributor: Nigel Carter <= send feedback to Nigel by e-mail Camera: scanned in. Comment: "This is my Laelia harpophylla and the flower in the middle was pollinated with pollen from an awarded AM/AOS clone of L. harpophylla that had very large flowers. The flowers on my plant are around 3-3.5" across, whereas the awarded clone had flowers almost 5" across. Mine is much more orange, so I`ll be looking for larger flowers that are fluorescent orange in the progeny. The pod is currently about 60 days post pollination and I`ll harvest it at perhaps 120 days then flask the seed and see what grows out. I also have another 20 imported L. harpophyllas and I hope they will flower over winter into next spring. I`ll then pick out the traits I like and cross some of those too. You never know, maybe in 10 years I`ll have some really fabulous L.harpophylla clones."
