When To Use Black And White Photography

These photographers have access to cameras and other types of equipment that can help them to take brilliant color pictures. Many may wonder why black and white pictures are still necessary.

Black and white photography is particularly popular in artistic and journalistic circles. One of the main reasons is that color can at times be incredibly distracting, diluting the effect of the picture. When the photographer wants the viewer to focus on the subject, black and white is the preferred format for the picture.Confused? ‘http://pamphotography.wordpress.com/2012/05/10/project-52-week-5-photographing-geometric-shapes-in-shades-of-gray/’>Here ‘s a little help . This ability to focus, if used properly can make the pictures more emotionally resonant. Another reason is that when composing a black and white picture the photographer does not need to think about how colors work together or how the light affects these colors. The effect is of a timeless image that uses the contrast between dark and light as well as different shades to tell its story.

Photographers should not discount the ability of shades of gray to tell a story. The various shades of gray in a picture can focus the viewer’s attention on the subtler aspects of a subject and is perfect for shooting interesting shapes and textures, especially if such elements as color would only serve to lessen the effect of the composition.
