Orchids of Borneo

We drove on a small but comfortable bus from Kota Kinabalu to the town of Tenom to visit the Tenom Orchid Centre to view native orchids in a reserve.  We, also, visited Orchid de Villa on the way to the Mt. Kinabalu Park on the next day.  Although this is a commercial nursery specializing in cut flowers, they had a superb conservation area for native orchid species.

Due to operator errors, many of the photos turned out to be out of focus, and many others unusable.  I should have been more careful. This is what happens when one is no longer addicted to orchids.

If you have a broadband connection, here is a video clip which you may wish to view.

Other Flora of Borneo

As Borneo is home to many exotic species, we saw a lot of unique flowers and plants, in addition to native orchids.  The most unusual flower which we were fortunate enough to see in bloom is Rafflesia pricei at the Rfflesia Forest Reserve.
